Even though it's been about 6 years since we stayed at St. John's Lodge, it stands out in our memory as one of the best travel experiences we've ever had. Friendly owners, lovely surroundings, and delicious breakfasts! Despite the relentless rain we had a splendid time in Windermere and dream of returning.

First time in the Lake District for me, had an amazing stay at St John's Lodge. Efficient service, friendly, laid back staff, always willing to help and give advice. Very very good vegetarian breakfasts - spoilt for choice! Room was of an optimum standard for a basic room, very quiet, clean and smartly furnished. Will be back again soon x

First visit to the Lake District and it was made so special for us by the warm and welcoming reception from both Sue and Barry. The room was very, clean, spacious and the best power shower we have experienced at any B & B. Breakfasts, what can we say about that! The choices were unbelievable and truly 100% for presentation and taste. Cannot wait to return to the Lake District again and obviously will be returning to St. John's Lodge. We have just had the most relaxing few days staying at St John's Lodge. What a find! Everything about the Hotel is excellent, Very clean, very reasonably priced & very welcoming, and the most wonderful of breakfasts to suit everybody, incuding vegetarian & gluten free. Must be sampled to be believed!! Ideally placed too for Bowness & for Windermere. Thank you Barry & Sue - looking forward to a return visit soon.

anyone looking fore a warm greeting in a ideal location midway between the lake and the town in spacious accomodation and our room was the basic one not so you would know dont hesitate book nowwww
and i have not even mentioned the cost seriously cheap or the simply stunnin selction of breakfast items we returned home today but are already planning our return wot a truly exceptional lodge

St John's is a superb venue for the Lake District, and we have stayed several times. Each time we have been treated like royalty, with nothing too much trouble. We look forward with relish to our visits.

We stayed for new years eve 2008/09.
The choice of breakfast was wonderful, it was nice not to have to have a full english.
Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable.
The location was excellant to we had a choice of Bowness or windermere with the B&B pretty much being half way between the both.

Arrived in Bowness on New Years Eve thinking we could book in no problem in any B&B couldnt find anywhere until we spotted St Johns Lodge, it was the last room available, but we are so glad we found it because it was so lovely and cosy!and very welcoming!! I didnt quite make breakfast after New Year celebrations but my Hubby did and he said it was Fab!! I definately recommend St Johns Lodge and we will definately be returning again !

Just returned from our second visit. Again everything is just right. Rooms clean, bedding and towels good quality and your brilliant breakfast - certainly filled us up for the day. We are returning in the New Year for another short break, it's home from home now. And yes, our online shopping did arrive on time when we got home. how's that for organising the weekend to the best. The boys at home kept the house in a tidy shape too. GREAT

I stayed at St Johns Lodge for a week with my parents in August 2008. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. With plenty of hot water provided. The breakfasts were great. With a excellent choice. I look froward to recommending and returning to St johns lodge in the future. Just returned from a two night weekend away in the Lakes with my wife, some 15 years + since we were both last here. Had an excellent time, room was very clean, food was excellent. The salmon on potato cakes with an egg on top was the best breakfast I have ever had in the world!

The walking beautiful trails around the lake and through the hills around Windermere and getting our rearview mirror whipped back on the narrowest lanes is what we'll remember longest.
