St John's Lodge is about 15 minutes leisurely walk from Lake Windermere. Windermere is the largest lake in England. One of the best ways to enjoy it is to take a cruise. The views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and wooded islands are superb. Even though we live here we never tire of it.
You can use the boats on the lake as a ferry service visiting various places of interest. There are also a number of enjoyable walks along the lakeside.
Windermere is the largest lake in England. Here you can board a traditional lake steamer and cruise the full length of Windermere stopping off to visit places of interest. You may also hire motorboats and rowing boats or try your hand at sailing and water skiing.
Directions To St. Johns' Lodge
Leave M6 at Junction 36
- Follow signs to South Lakes and Kendal
- This road is the A590/591
- Follow A591 to Windermere
- Approaching Windermere turn left at Windermere Hotel
- Follow signs for Town Centre
- Drive through village towards Bowness and Lake
- This road is New Road
- In about ½ mile there is a Catholic Church on left
- St John's Lodge is approximately 100 yards on left hand side.
If you reach the Police Station you have gone too far.
If you reach the Lake you have definitely gone too far - turn round and retrace your steps!
